He is reflecting on how the world has changed so much that traditional forms of education simply won't work anymore. He wants people to start shaking the foundation of modern education and to improvise for the future.

The videos made things very clear to me, and made me realize that school really needs to include more of a creative way of learning. School has been all about not making mistakes and being critical, but creative thinking is just as important. If schools included creative thinking, I think that the future of this world will be much more innovative and successful.

I think that school can kill creativity depending on the teacher. The students have to learn the way the teacher wants them to. There is usually barely any room to be creative.

I feel like school work makes students believe that most of the work is pointless since it's not really relavent to them. Obviously that's not always the case and there is information they're suppose to know, but if they give out more work that brings creativity, many students might just open up to themseleves and be open-minded.

i feel like school can kill creativity. It can kill creativity because we are forced to do stuff that we don't like and it feels like we're working in factories. We aren't free to express ourselves and school may take away our creative way of thinking because we are forced outside of our comfort zone,

They're are many ways to learn in IBCC. The video proves that to us. It tells us all the creative ways to learn, so we can have a better future for ourselves and the loved ones around us.

In my opinion, schools do kill the creativity that students have. The school has a standard way of teaching students and does not allow for the student to change things around. The students almost have no say in what they learn and how they learn it. Its as though the school wants you to learn what they want you to learn, not what you want to learn.

I believe that schools restrict creativity very much. They expect things to be done a certain way at a certain time with few exceptions. 9/30/2014 07:44:01 am
School is all about learning new things. People of higher positions should not tell you to stop being creative. School can kill creativity depending on the environment.

When a child feels comfort with their creativity they will learn, and want to learn more. I also agree with his statement "if you're not prepared to be wrong, you will never commit anything original"

I agree with what Sir. Robinson is saying about the creativity being unappreciated in the school environment. However, I can see how that is difficult to grasp in the school environment of standards and expectations for what you should know in order to function in society. It is frustrating how these things are said a lot and how his ideas have been thought and expressed often and nothing has changed thus far.

I do agree that children grow out of being creative. It seems as children grow older and gain more knowledge, creativity becomes irrational. I think schools do kill creativity in some ways because almost everything in school is routine and conventional.

I believe That school does ruin creativity because school makes students work a assemble line and we are just manufactured to be “successful” but what really is successful to do things that are forced upon you and make sure that it is perfect in their eyes and not yours or making something with your influence and uniqueness, making something reflects your personality. School fries our brains to the point where we become boring and I for one do not want to become a boring adult

In relation to the passage we read in IBCC English "How Teachers Make Childeren Hate Reading", this video and the passage have a similar message. From reading the text and seeing this video I learned that the ways we teach not only kill creativity it discourages us from reading which prevents us from being active in our learning.

School is teaching kids how to prepare themselves for the adult world, teaching them what we need to know as an adult. I do agree that school does kill creativity, but it opens us to the real world, one we all fear to live but will eventually experience.

Wow, this video is very eye opening. The many concepts shown here are very interesting, and I hope more people watch this video. I see where this man is coming from and why many other wil agree on the concept of schools killing creativity. In my point of view, every day I come to school, I see creativity flourish and I believe the reason for that is because I see it for what it really is like when I go to choir, acting for the musical Grease after school, and all of the paintings and pictures on the walls. Some scan their eyes right passed all that and miss all the creativity and talent. But what I do think about, is the fact that most of the creative people won't pursue their talents after high school because in the end, academics is what is really important and is what you need to succeed in life. And that's why creativity gets killed.

To me I think school does kill creativity depending on the class. Schools nowadays just hand students work packets and expect them to take whatever they read or learn and expect them to fully understand the concept.

I can relate this to a passage i am reading in English about how students hate reading because of teachers forcing the student. Young adults nowadays see school just for grades and all it is a competition based on a letter. It kills creativity and passion in learning in a special way.

This video really shows that we need to have a new form of thinking when it comes to education, we need to start figuring out what us as students helps us learn, i really loved this video.

This video shows how school kills the creativity of the student. I think this is what causes students to not express themselves because they are scared of being judge and be told that they are wrong just because they did not follow certain steps or specific instructions.

I agree that school can kill creativity. Although sometimes it does open you up to new ideas, but most of the time teachers introduce some topics in a boring/pressuring way that kills their interest in it.

It has always been apparent that teaching style varies from teacher to teacher. Because technology has become so common place in today's society, children need constant stimulation and it's harder for kids to focus and formulate things for themselves.

In my opinion, I do believe that school does kill creativity. School is teaching about things that they believe we should prepare for in the real world. Sure we learn about new things in school but some of the new things we learn doesn't help us use our creativity. We follow how the school wants us to do it. Kids need to use their creativity so that can help them be suucessfull

Two things about intelligence- One, that you learn through mistakes, and two is that intelligence is diverse. You learn through mistakes better because you remember it more. Example, take a caveman messing with a snake. When he gets bitten, he will remember the pain and unpleasand feelings and will now know not to mess with it better. If we take the option of mistakes away from students, how will they have the option of truely remembering? You cant expect them to memorize everything like facts, intelligence is diverse! If they dont prepare us to be wrong, we'll never come up with anyting creative, original, because theyre all to afraid of being wrong. Comments are closed.

IBCC at Taft HSWelcome to the blogging portion of our classroom website. I will archive some short videos that complement key concepts and ideas presented in our classroom and in our reading. The videos add an audio-visual element that cater to students' varied modalities of learning. They serve as a springboard for students to help them generate ideas around their thinking and their writing. Archives
