Unit 0 - Icebreakers/Scavenger Hunt
Ice Breakers can be an effective way of starting a class, training session or team-building event. As interactive and often fun sessions run before the main proceedings, they help students get to know each other and buy into the purpose of the class or event.
If an ice breaker session is well-designed and well-facilitated, it can really help get things off to a great start. By getting to know each other, getting to know the instructor and learning about the objectives of the class or event, students can become more engaged in the proceedings and so contribute more effectively towards a successful outcome. In the icebreaker activities below we will have an opportunity to know and better understand our peers and ourselves as learners. Additionally, we will examine the IB Learner Profile Traits and make connections to our learner traits and styles. |

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS (PPS) YEAR II
PPS II:
Welcome to year two of the Personal and Professional Skills class. This year will be exciting, innovative, and creative. All classes will be held in our very own computer lab. Be mindful of the environment, productive with the technology, and efficient with your time. Your task for the entire academic year is to document your journey in the IBCC program in general, and in the PPS class in specific. To achieve this goal you will create and populate your very own digital portfolio using weebly.com. In addition to documenting your academic and personal journey to date, your online portfolio will also house your culminating, capstone Reflective Project. Lab time will be dedicated to work on and bring your Reflective Project to completion. Please refer to the syllabus below for more details on this very exciting year two ATL class. Best wishes for a successful and creative academic year together. See you in class, Mr. Giannetos. |

Ethical Issues in Contemporary Society
For this task, you and your partner (groups of 2 only or individual) will select an ethical issue in contemporary society, research that issue, and then present it to the class using a medium of choice (exhibit, essay, powerpoint, poster, or short film).
The purpose behind this task is to look deeper into ethical issues, and to identify the two perspectives on the ethical issue of study. This will serve as a prelude to your own understanding of the Reflective Project, and in identifying the two perspectives present in your own ethical issue/dilemma.
